North Shore care that helps children feel strong, grow steadily, and even have fun along the way.

What to Expect as a Kid

What Happens at Your First Visit?

Before you come in, your parent or caregiver will have a short call with us. It’s about 15 minutes. That’s when they ask questions, tell us what you might need help with, and learn what it’s like here. You don’t need a doctor’s note or a diagnosis to start. If something feels tricky and you could use a little help, that’s enough.

The First Session

Here’s what your first visit might look like:

  • You’ll meet a friendly therapist who wants to get to know you. You will get to know them too!

  • You’ll play or talk or draw—it depends on what feels right for you.

  • You won’t have to do anything scary or hard.

  • Your grown-up will also talk with the therapist about what’s going on and how we can help.

Our biggest goal is to help you feel safe, calm, and understood. That’s the first step to growing strong from the inside out.

Things You Might Wonder

  • "Is this just a phase or something bigger?"

  • "Do I really need help?"

  • "What kind of therapy is right for me?"

Lots of kids and parents wonder these things. That’s okay. You don’t need to have all the answers. What matters most is that you feel seen, heard, and supported.

"I know personally the amazing benefits of growing up with a sibling whose development was different from mine, and it enriched my life in so many ways. I feel deeply that diversities are to be celebrated not "fixed" or "masked". "
